Who are you playing with in 2017?
I play military ball with JBSA Lackland in the varsity A division. I am currently looking for a civilian open team due to my last team disbanding.

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Pitcher….catch EH 1st…… Pitching is my best position
Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
There are so many im not sure i can name just one. Connell is definitely one of the greats. Being a pitcher I personally am a big fan of Mooch and Purcell also.
Why do you like the game of softball?
Well for me my transition from the military back to civilian life wasn't very easy. It seemed I was always looking for the Brotherhood and camaraderie type atmosphere and softball to me seems to have that if you're around the right people it definitely fills a great void for me.
Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
Personally right now I think a young guy named TY Cobb has a ton of potential. Hes young and athletic can hit well and play defense. I think he will go as far as he wants to go it really up to him
What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
"CAIN"……its been my nickname forever even my mom uses it lol

What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Watching my son play ball……or lounging on the couch.
What do you do for a living?
I work for a commercial glass compny
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
I played football wrestled and baseball track and tennis in high school….
I played football in colege at Elon.
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
I started in league ball and once I realized there was a ladder to climb my competitive side took over. My break into the upper level was with Craig Shaw from Pure Sports the team was Honeybadgers out of SC
What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
I think the pitching is much better. The hitters don't miss. You cant tAke a play off if you want to be successful at that level.
Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
I think everyone has their own style
What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
Well i have a few all world selections that are special to me. Although id have to say being selected all tournament and winning the Bandaid military tournment this year is bery special to . I dedicated that tournament to two of my fallen military brothers Marshall Edgerton and Mike Donahue.
In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?
I look backand think of my early days with guys like Moe Moore and Paul Jackson that taught me to learn the game first and no matter what be a good teammate.
What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Dont be afraid to learn. Find upper level players and mimic them…….80% of the game is in your head.
What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Overlap pinky
What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
Well i workout year round….luckily in NC there isnt much of an off season
What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Football- Steelers
Baseball- Red Sox
College – UNC

Not really

What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
I would like to see more teams.
What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
I love them all…..from friday night one pitch all the way to the world tournments
What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
I like the summit in TN….I am also a fan of Vegas Myrtle Beach and Colorado Springs
Where is the best place to eat on the road after a game?
Im always hungry so anything is good.
What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
Wow….. when u play with some guys like I did with the Honeybadgers im not sure i this box is big enough for me to list them all
Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
That Cain isn't my first name…… I've known people for years now that stil think Cain is my first name
What was your favorite sports related gift you have ever given or received?
Probably the biggest gift i can think of is the man upstairs still gives me the strength and ability to play.
